Heidi Jackson
Heidi Jackson was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone in 1970. Her childhood was defined by constant movement around the world. Her early years in New Zealand were frequently interdispersed with life in Europe and West Africa. She eventually settled in Canberra, Australia, in the mid 1980’s.
Heidi Jackson’s work is always a personal response to place. Her paintings compress fleeting moments or render more sustained experiences of the landscape into compositions that are defined by tracts of sky, bodies of water, country roads and the personally significant destinations they lead to.
Her works communicate how the permanence of the landscape acts as a metaphor for home, connection and belonging.
She lives and works in Sydney, Australia.
